Addis Ababa, May 10, 2023 – We are pleased to announce YeneHealth’s membership in the Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion (WDFI) Advocacy Hub – Ethiopia Coalition. The WDFI Advocacy Hub, under the auspices of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), serves as a collaborative platform for stakeholders to enhance coordination and promote policy and practice changes in women’s digital financial inclusion.

The WDFI Advocacy Hub operates on the principles of voluntary collaboration, working in good faith to achieve shared purposes and objectives around empowering women’s financial and economic participation. It aims to foster gender-inclusive economic and financial ecosystems by advocating for policy changes at local and global levels.

As a member of the Ethiopia Coalition, YeneHealth is committed to actively contributing to the Hub’s initiatives and activities. We plan to bring healthcare financing to the discussion as we think through how we can make healthcare services more accessible and affordable to women we serve. 

We are looking forward to attending virtual and in-person meetings and workshops throughout the year, participating in advocacy campaigns, sharing materials, volunteering for speaking engagements, co-authoring op-eds and articles, and engaging in media interviews in this regard. As a women’s health tech organization, we recognize the importance of amplifying women’s economic engagement outside of the healthcare sector and we therefore strive to empower women in the digital financial sphere through our additional financial literacy content on our platform. 

We are thrilled to join civil society organizations, public and private sector entities to discuss, strategize, and align efforts for greater impact. The country’s transition to a digital economy presents an opportunity to address the existing gender disparities in economic transactions.

As part of the Advocacy Hub, we will collaborate with diverse stakeholders and provide contextual information to identify advocacy pathways that lead to policy and practice changes.  We acknowledge the significance of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and Digital Payment Strategy in this regard and believe we must be at the discussion table to accelerate and meet our country’s inclusion goals. 

YeneHealth is excited to join forces with the WDFI Advocacy Hub and other coalition members to drive positive change in women’s digital financial inclusion in Ethiopia. By working together, YeneHealth aims to create a more inclusive and equitable financial ecosystem for the millions of women we are able to serve.
